Transport Links...

Although most guests arrive in Keswick by car, a significant proportion come by public transport.

There are frequent trains to Penrith and an hourly bus service (half-hourly in the Summer) directly from the Rail Station to Keswick.  The following links will let you plan your journey.

And don't forget, we'll give you a discount of up to 5% on your stay for using public transport!  Have a look at our Environmental Policy for details.

Of those guests who do come to Keswick by car, many leave theirs in our car park for the whole of their stay and use the various forms of public transport available.  There are some significant advantages, especially if you plan to get out onto the fells. Parking places near your chosen route can be limited, so unless you're off early in the morning, you might have to change your plans.  You will also be restricted to a circular route unless you fancy a road walk at the end (or beginning?) of the day.  Public transport gives a greater range of options, and lets the driver enjoy the view as well!.

Keswick Launch on Derwentwater - just like an aquatic bus service, the Keswick Launch travels clockwise and anti-clockwise round Derwentwater on a regular 30 minute timetable.  With 7 stops on the circuit, it provides an excellent means of access to and from the Newlands Fells (Catbells, Causey Pike, Hindscarth, High Spy &c.) as well as Grange and Ashness Bridge.  And it's a pleasant trip in its own right!
