Cumbria House Dining Room...

Your breakfast will be cooked individually to order, so you may choose any items from our menu:

Start with a glass of fruit juice, grapefruit segments, fruit salad, yogurt or a bowl of muesli or cereal, or if you prefer something more substantial, a bowl of steaming hot porridge. Select your cooked breakfast from the following:

  • Our Full English!Cumberland Sausage (from Keswick Game & Fine Meats)
  • Vegetarian Sausages (from Wicken Fen)
  • Dry Cured Smoked Bacon (from Richard Woodall of Waberthwaite)
  • Black Pudding (from Keswick Game & Fine Meats)
  • Tomatoes
  • Mushrooms
  • Fried bread
  • Baked beans
  • Free range eggs - fried, poached, scrambled or boiled
Breakfast (Fairtrade produce):
  • Orange, Apple and Tropical Fruit juices
  • Ground coffee
  • Decaffeinated ground coffee
  • Breakfast Tea (from Hampstead Tea & Coffee)
  • Organic Earl Grey
  • Hot chocolate

Breakfast will be accompanied with fresh, home-baked bread rolls which are hand-made using organic, stone-ground flour from The Watermill at Little Salkeld. If you've got any space left, you can always fill up on toast, liberally spread with home-made marmalade, Cumbrian Kitchen home-made jams, Cumbrian honey - even Marmite!

As far as possible, all our fresh produce comes from local sources and our food purchases are from local (i.e. Keswick) suppliers.

It may sound ridiculous, but you can choose from more than 25,000 variations of a cooked breakfast alone, plus over 500 vegetarian options! Add in 3 fruit juices, 6 different cereals, 4 mueslis, porridge, grapefruit segments, fruit salad and 20 different hot drinks and it comes to a staggering 13 million plus.

To put it another way, if you had a different breakfast every day you would have to stay with us for over twenty five thousand years to get through them all! And that doesn't include the options of white or wholemeal toast (home-made rolls are "compulsory") or fresh fruit and yoghurt - we should be able to satisfy most tastes!
